Research

ATR is committed to science-based management of outdoor recreation. Our team partners with a variety of land managers and universities to develop and implement research that meets the diverse needs of our clients. We use modeling and experimental approaches to solve issues like:

  • curbing visitor impacts to natural resources
  • wilderness character preservation
  • visitor experience assessment and management (solitude, encounters, conflicts, crowding and carrying capacities)
  • soundscape and night sky conservation
  • health benefits of outdoor recreation
